[35:24]  2 tn Heb “fathers.”

[22:16]  3 tn Heb “What to you here? And who to you here?” The point of the second question is not entirely clear. The interpretation reflected in the translation is based on the following context, which suggests that Shebna has no right to think of himself so highly and arrange such an extravagant burial place for himself.

[22:16]  4 tn Heb “that you chisel out.”

[19:41]  5 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[19:41]  6 sn See the note on Crucify in 19:6.

[19:41]  7 tn Or “an orchard.”

[19:41]  8 tn Or “orchard.”

[19:41]  9 tn Grk “been placed.”

[19:42]  10 sn The day of preparation was the day before the Sabbath when everything had to be prepared for it, as no work could be done on the Sabbath.

[19:42]  11 sn The tomb was nearby. The Passover and the Sabbath would begin at 6 p.m., so those who had come to prepare and bury the body could not afford to waste time.
